Focused on students. Certain programs are geared towards students so that they can personally achieve. Collaboration between school, teacher and the student can make a major difference in how much they will succeed while in school. Programs that are able to set individual targets that will stretch students and their particular abilities can help students develop their own skills.
Work readiness. Everyone should leave school qualified for something. If a school doesn’t get you closer to a job then it might make your life much harder after you graduate. If you go to school and focus uniquely on one aspect of the profession, film directing for example, it might be closing doors that you might need later on.
Opportunities to experiment. The time you spend experimenting in school will help you later on when you come across things you’ve practiced or studied, or even mistakes that you have made. Certain film school programs restrict the experimentation that students can do, preventing them from analyzing and developing their own personal style.
