Equipment. Generally, film schools have their own equipment and it’s available to all students. Film equipment is difficult to get a hold of outside of school, mainly because of purchase and renting cost. Without any training, it can be difficult to use the equipment to it’s maximum potential.
Learning Filmmaking. Most programs have an academic side with film classes covering the different aspects of film. From this knowledge you can create your own work or use it to break into the film industry.
Making movies. It’s common for film schools to have their students work on productions during their education. It’s an opportunity to learn to work with others and to use film equipment while making an actual movie.

Great post, thanks!
Thank you for shinning some light on this. Can we expect more?
Yes, without a doubt.
I like this whole hands on thing that film school has, but also the teaching aspect. Feels like a good balance.
Well, you have certainly given me a lot to think about. I think I have been deceived by all the online ranting.
