One of the thing that most of the people when they graduate from film school is assuming that they know everything about everything. Well, it’s not the case.
Learn From Others
The biggest mistake that people make is to stop learning from others. Once you’re on set, everything is different on each set, so you have to adapt to the way that people are working. Things aren’t gonna be the same as they are in film school, because film school teaches you the best ways to do things, generally. But on set, its about schedules, money etc.. etc.. So, as soon as you realize that you’re new to this and that you still have a lot to learn, or relearn, you’ll be able to build on your current knowledge and exceed.
Experience is Experience
I often see, in film school and on set, people that don’t understand that if someone has been working in this industry for longer than you, they certainly have a greater knowledge than you, so don’t hesitate to try to get to know more about that. Most people like to teach and help others and they won’t mind if you ask them questions, at the right time obviously.
No one knows everything, and no one should assume so. Learning if what life is about and it’s certainly true in this industry. You might not realize it, but if you act like you’re superior to everyone, the lesser chances you have of them calling you back, and this industry likes to talk a lot, so other people might not call you either. It’s a very important thing to remember for anyone new to this or anyone already working.
